Madama Butterfly

The story of Madama Butterfly is tragic. It saddens my heart to think someone would take a woman's child from her. Even if it was the soldier's child he has no right to take the child when he didn't take care for madama butterfly. He was never around for a single moment of the child's life.  The animation does a great way of showing this scene. Showing that he didn't care about madama butterfly at all but she loves him. The man ran away quickly to the boat, as if he was just using her for his own gain.  She waits so long to have a happy life with him but he never returned until a long time after.

The animation is amazing but some of the representations were interesting. When madama butterfly is pregnant this sense is interesting to me. I do not like the idea of a fish tank in her stomach and the child starting out as a fish. There could of been a different way of showing that she was pregnant other that a fish tank. I do not get the concept or meaning behind why the artist choose this was to present her time of pregnancy. The umbilical cord attached from the madama butterfly was amazing. Showing the strong connection between a mother and her child.

All of the emotion that was portrayed in the remake was executed incredibly well. Overall I enjoyed this remake of Madama Butterfly. All of the little details in the umbilical cord to her unscrewing herself in sorrow was perfection. Just these simple additions made such an impact to the emotion of the viewers. Especially when the soldier rips the cord from madama butterfly, this is heartbreaking.  An example is when the boat pulls up to the island and instead of going to find madama butterfly, there are noises of a party taking place on the soldier's boat as madama butterfly waits for him to return.  Also, the image of her taring herself apart was a beautiful way of showing how a mother feels when her child is taken from her is very powerful. There were many great details the artist used to display the deep emotions.
