Performance Art Project

Artists Statement: "Are you wearing a masks?" is the performance art pieces I did for this project. People should think about what kinds of theoretical masks they put up to the outside world. We all have them no matter is big are small. Everyone shields who they really are at first until you gain enough trust to show who you are. I unfortunately didn't get very many reaction with my performance just stares. Hopefully all that walked by started to think about what the statement, Do you wear a mask?, means to them.  Favorite Performance Artist: Performance art is about putting yourself out there to a large crowd to get their attention. The reason for getting this attention could be for many different reasons but in all are trying to portray a certain message. This is what connects all performance artists. This artists only uses computer to create their music so this is how they fit in with the electronic music expect.  Disco: Chic https://youtu.be/h1qQ1SKNlgY The reason I chose Chic's "Le Freak" was because I remember growing up and my parents would listen to radio stations that played this song. This song has electronic music in it because of the use of electric guitars in the song.  Electronic-Producer/DJ Culture: Chainsmokers  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FyASdjZE0R0 I have always loved the Chainsmokers music and "Roses" is my favorite song by them. Chainsmokes creates all their music on a computer or electrical key boards with is where they just technology to make their music.  Punk: All America

Image
Emotions are apart of everyones lives daily. People have so many different emotions and they are can change very quickly. That is what this piece represents and why I chose expressionism because his art form shows exaggerated emotions. I have had some anxiety problems in the past and my emotions were all over the place. The different facial expressions in a circle represent that there is a consent rotation of emotional. A never ending circle of fluctuating emotions throughout the day which sometimes we can not control.  The meaning of the hands around the faces represents reaching out and trying to have someone help you get out of the cycle of emotions to be happy, not lost and all over the place. I tried to fix the lines when the scans printed but it wouldn't work but then this turned into something meaningful. The lines to me looked like jail bars which make me think about hoe sometimes I felt trapped in confusing and sadness and could never break out unless I have help from oth

For the grid project I used a canvas and jewel sequins which is 30x30 . Then I used mod podge to glue down all of the sequins. The pieces is called "Flow of the Ocean" because it is an image of a wave and waves are what help generate some flow throughout the ocean. The ocean is a passion of mine since my major is  Marine Biology and in my introduction to marine science class we just learned about waves which is what gave me the inspiration for this piece.
