Final Project- Coral Reefs

The oceans are a big passion in my life. Hopefully in the future I will be about to help project them and save them for human pressures. Research that I would love to do in the future is on corals and how we can help rebuild them back to there abundance. Unfortunately, that could take years, corals take thousands or even millions of years to grow to the large reefs we see today. But, thanks to our practices we are killing these beautiful creatures so fast however, they can only rebuild slowly.  The purpose of this project was to show how largely coral reefs make an impact on the ecosystem and how they are important for our survival. Hopeful after watching this video you see how lifeless the ocean becomes after coral reefs are bleached.

Madama Butterfly

The story of Madama Butterfly is tragic. It saddens my heart to think someone would take a woman's child from her. Even if it was the soldier's child he has no right to take the child when he didn't take care for madama butterfly. He was never around for a single moment of the child's life.  The animation does a great way of showing this scene. Showing that he didn't care about madama butterfly at all but she loves him. The man ran away quickly to the boat, as if he was just using her for his own gain.  She waits so long to have a happy life with him but he never returned until a long time after. The animation is amazing but some of the representations were interesting. When madama butterfly is pregnant this sense is interesting to me. 30x30 Grid Art Project

For the grid project I used a canvas and jewel sequins which is 30x30 . Then I used mod podge to glue down all of the sequins. The pieces is called "Flow of the Ocean" because it is an image of a wave and waves are what help generate some flow throughout the ocean. The ocean is a passion of mine since my major is  Marine Biology and in my introduction to marine science class we just learned about waves which is what gave me the inspiration for this piece.
